Dashiell Hammett was one of the most enigmatic and influential writers of the last century. His five great novels broke new ground and set standards which have seldom been equalled. Opinions vary over what was his greatest achievement, but it is usually a choice between 'The Maltese Falcon' and 'The Glass Key'. Both were selected for inclusion in the 'Haycraft-Queen' cornerstone list of crime, mystery and detective fiction.

Mark Sutcliffe is currently working on updates and amendments to the bibliography of this distinguished author.
He has uncovered a considerable amount of previously unknown information, particularly about the British editions, and especially 'The Glass Key'. He is also compiling a record of books inscribed by Hammett, and would be grateful to hear the details if you have an inscribed item yourself.
